We bid farewell to 2017

Image
Amazing Arewhana would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.  We have worked very hard up to this week; completing reflections and setting goals for next year. Lots to celebrate for, friendships made, friendships to make in 2018 and more hard work to be had. We are very sad to leave each other as we are all not going to be together, but there is one thing our teacher has taught us, is don't forget our our friendships made. The PRIDE values are instilled in each and everyone of us and what we liked about our PRIDE values is that it makes us stronger citizens of ROWANDALE SCHOOL and of Aotearoa.  Memories of 2017 Some really great memories. Have a safe Christmas and a merry new year.  Summer time bring the best out in children, here is our last celebrations with our buddy class.  MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR (ENGLISH) MERI KIRHIMETE ME TE TAU HOU  (MĀORI) MANUIA LE KIRISIMASI ME TAUSAGA

PRIZE GIVING OF 2017 AMAZING AREWHANA

Image
We give thanks to our almighty God for the grace and strength he has given us to conquer another year.  This year has been a blessing, not only because it was my first year here at Rowandale School but to grow with 23 children in our learning, teaching and laughter of each other.  To watch these children blossom into flowers from little seeds and become independent wild flowers ready for 2018. To prize just one child was very difficult but to know they are all winners, by accomplishing their goals and striving to do their best. So Congratulations Amazing Arewhana its sad that we all leave each other and move on to other classes but to always remember...  You are the CLASS OF RM 15 for 2017. Here are some photos taken from our celebrations yesterday. Also I am humbled to have received a taonga by a beautiful whanau who felt I had gifted their daughter with more mana and aroha for her learning. Blessings to you all.   Amazing Arewhana Award winners for 2017 Acade

Reduce - Reuse - Recycle

What is this? What are these symbols?  Amazing Arewhana have been working collaboratively in a 4 man group to come up with ideas on how to protect our Earth. They were given information about the 3 Rs and how they can save the Earth. There were four parts to their investigating. 1. What is Pollution? They were given a work sheet and had to mark out 10 objects that were polluting the Earth. 2. Learning more about the 3 Rs; Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.   How can we reduce to save the Earth. The children came up with many ideas they will be doing at home as well as at school. 3. Learning about rubbish and recycling. The children were given rubbish to sort out and put into categories. This they enjoyed. 4. Collaborating to produce a poster. This was a not so easy task. They had to make sure that each one in their group had produced some work that they could call their own. This was the criteria for their posters. These are their master pieces.

RAISE OUR BOYS

WHAT IS 'RAISE OUR BOYS'? This is an initiative to prevent violence towards women. We talked about respect and being loving to all. We made ribbons to stand up against what is happening. We want to be great leaders for our future. We in Amazing Arewhana will try to raise awareness in our homes and in communities.

Amazing Arewhana Amazing Arewhana had a blast this week. This swimming lesson was about staying together and staying safe. The scenario was if the children were ever to fall out of a boat, then they would some how know, how to stay afloat, stay warm and stay safe until someone could rescue them.  These Arewhana were really amazing, why? because they needed to fall backwards into the pool, and be willing to trust their swimming instructors to be there when they fell in and to swim on their backs from their previous lessons given. This would help them feel safe around water at all times, even home with the bath tub. The children enjoyed the life jackets wearing and being safe inside and outside with water. Hope you enjoy our photos because we had a blast!!.

WEEK 5 OF AMAZING AREWHANA

Image
AMAZING AREWHANA This week has been absolutely crazy cool. We were winners again for the 'Tidy Kiwi' which makes us 5 times winners. And we also won the percentage of 'ATTENDANCE' of weeks 3-4 and 5. Thank you to the Amazing Arewhana parents for sending their little Arewhana's to school. We are trying very hard to come to school everyday for our learning. This week we were also 'HOST's to the whole school Assembly. We have been practising these two Māori songs since term 2 and 3 with our buddy class 'Clever Cookies', and we think we were pretty amazing. Thank you Clever Cookies for being awesome with us.
